Pavlovsk palace of Paul & park
Pavlovsk is the youngest Palace and Park ensemble in the vicinity of St. Petersburg (27 km from St. Petersburg, near Pushkin). When in the middle of the XVIII century Tsarskoye Selo became the summer residence of Russian emperors the lands to the South of it (the territory of modern Pavlovsk) served as a place of Royal hunting. In 1777 Catherine II gave these lands to her son Paul - the future Emperor Paul I. 1777 is considered to be the date of the foundation of Pavlovsk. The Large Palace was built here for Paul I and served as a country residence.
During the private tour you will visit the Pavlovsk Palace - perhaps one of the most comfortable Imperial residences. With the local professional guide you will pass through the Throne, Italian, Greek hall; you will see the Egyptian lobby, cavalry hall, created for the reception of the knights of Malta, White dining room, Dancing room, Palace Church, Art gallery, Pilaster, Crimson rooms, Palace Church, library of Maria Feodorovna, bedrooms and boudoirs. After the death of the Emperor Paul, the Palace belonged to his widow – Empress Maria Feodorovna. The palace was hardly hit during the great Patriotic war, burned and looted by the Nazis. It was completely restored after the war. And now it amazes with its beauty.
The Palace is surrounded by the beautiful Pavlovsk Park with an area of over 600 hectares. It is one of the largest parks in Europe with various landscapes.
